High School Football Rankings: Bay Area News Group Top 25, Week 10

The top three teams in this week’s penultimate fall 2021 Bay Area News Group high school football rankings could make a case for No. 1.

Serra: Beat St. Francis 16-12 to win the Central Coast Section Division I title.

De La Salle: North Coast Section Open Division champion. Played a heavyweight schedule.

St. Francis: Only team from this region to beat De La Salle in 30 years, winning 31-28. Also won at Serra to close the regular season, 44-21.

We went with De La Salle largely because of its victories over San Diego Section Open Division champion Cathedral Catholic 49-21, Sac-Joaquin Section Division I champion Folsom 31-10 and NCS Division I champion Pittsburg 42-14.

De La Salle also is the only Northern California team with a Top 10 state computer rating by calpreps.com. The Spartans are No. 8.

Serra is 13th, St. Francis 16th.

We will publish one more BANG Top 25 this season, on Tuesday, Dec. 14.
